  1. Open the Internet app.

  5. The selected saved page will be loaded.

  1. Open the Internet app. By default, the quick access will be the default homepage.
  2. Tap the address bar at the top of the screen.
  3. In the address bar, enter the required web address to open it or enter a keyword to search it in the default search engine, and then tap in the virtual keyboard.
  4. To facilitate your activity while using this app to browse the Internet, you can use some options/toolbars available(if it's hidden, slightly swipe down your finger on the screen to see it):
    • : tap it to read the content of the current webpage in the reading mode.
    • : tap it to refresh the current webpage.
    • : tap it to access additional options, e.g., add the current webpage to your bookmarks, change the settings, etc.
    • : tap it to go back one page.
    • : tap it to go forward one page.
    • : tap it to open the homepage.
    • : tap it to view and access your bookmarks, saved webpages, and history.
    • : tap it to open the tab manager. You can use it to do some actions, e.g., enable secret mode, open a new tab, close all tabs, switch between opened tabs, etc.

When the assistant menu feature has been enabled, you can easily enable the assistant plus feature for the stock Internet app by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, tap the assistant menu icon and then tap Settings to quickly go to the settings menu for the assistant menu feature.
  2. Tap Assistant plus.
  3. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the right to enable this option. The switch turns green when it's enabled.
  4. Check the box next to Internet to enable assistant plus for the stock Internet app.
  5. The assistant plus feature for the stock Internet app has been enabled.


How to use the assistant plus feature for the stock Internet app?
You can use the following steps to use the assistant plus feature in the stock Internet app:
  1. Open the stock Internet app.
  2. Tap the assistant menu icon .
  3. Aside from all default menus, you'll see these three additional contextual menu options within the assistant menu icon:
    • Enter URL : tap this option to easily enter the webpage URL in the address bar.
    • Tab manager : tap this option to go to the tab manager when you want to open a new page, switch between opened pages, close certain or all opened pages, open a new incognito page, etc.
    • New tab : tap this option to easily open a new page or tab.

There are several ways available that can be used to speed up the way you access your favourite webpages, one of which is by adding a shortcut to that webpage to home screen. This will let you to quickly access to that webpage even without you have to open up the Internet app first. All you have to do is simply by tapping the shortcut on the home screen and the webpage will be loaded shortly.


How to add a webpage shortcut to home screen?
Before doing this steps, make sure you have a free space in your home screen otherwise it won't work. Well, if you want to add shortcut to webpages in home screen, you can do so by using two methods available: from an opened webpage or from the bookmarks list.


Method #1: From an opened webpage
  1. Open Internet app.
  2. Enter the URL or webpage address in the address bar and then tap Go.
  3. Wait until the webpage is fully loaded.
  4. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Add shortcut to home.
  5. A shortcut of the currently opened webpage has been created on home screen.


Method #2: From the bookmarks list
This method can be used if you have bookmarked the webpage you want to add its shortcut to home screen. See the following steps to do so:
  1. Open Internet app.
  2. Tap located at the bottom right corner of the screen to view all bookmarked webpages.
  3. Long tap the required bookmark you want to add its shortcut to home screen until it's selected.
  4. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Add shortcut to home.
  5. A shortcut of the selected bookmark has been created on home screen.

As a note, this feature will be more useful if you use it to add shortcut of your favourite or most frequently accessed webpages to home screen since it will be able to help you to save more time by skipping some steps you used to do when accessing those webpages with other methods.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to View and Clear Download History in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Samsung Galaxy S5 is equipped with two pre-loaded Browser apps, Chrome app and Internet app. If you use one or both of these apps to download something then all download histories will be recorded at the same place in My Files app. You can view the download history to quickly open up a downloaded file. If needed, you can also delete some or all download histories, for instance when you want to clean up the download history or when you want nobody knows what you have downloaded in the past. Clear download history won't delete the actual files since it only deletes the logs of your download activities.


How to view and clear download history?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open My Files app.
  2. Tap Download history . All download histories of Chrome app and Internet app will be displayed here.
  3. Open a downloaded file:
    • Single tap the required download history.
    • The downloaded file will be opened in the appropriate app.
  4. Delete a single download history:
    • Long tap the required download history to select it.
    • Tap .
    • The selected download history has been deleted.
  5. Delete multiple download histories:
    • Long tap the required download history to select it.
    • Single tap another download histories you want to select.
    • Tap .
    • The selected download histories have been deleted.
  6. Delete all download histories:
    • Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Clear list.
    • Tap OK button to confirm.
    • All download histories have been deleted.

As a note, in case you use other third-party Browser apps, e.g: Firefox, Dolphin, Opera, etc to download something, then the download history won't be recorded in the download history in My Files app. Thus, if you want to view or clear the download history of a third-party Browser app, you can use the Download menu within the app.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Copy and Paste Text in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

If you often write or revise document on a computer, you may have ever used the copy and paste text function. This function will let you transferring text from one location/app to another, either by duplicating or moving the text. In Samsung Galaxy S5, this function can also be found so that you can easily copy text from one app to another.


How to copy and paste text?
Actually, you can copy text in many apps and then paste it into a text field in most other apps. But, as the example, we'll try copying text from a webpage in Internet app and then pasting it to a text message:
  1. Open a webpage in Internet app.
  2. Once the webpage is fully loaded, tap and hold over the required text you want to copy to.
  3. If necessary, you can adjust the selected text by dragging or . Or, you can tap Select all to select all text.
  4. Tap Copy . The selected text will be copied to the clipboard.
  5. Now, open Messaging app and then tap to create a new text message.
  6. Long tap in the Enter message field and you'll see two options available in a pop up window:
    • Paste : tap this option to paste text that you have just copied.
    • Clipboard : tap this option to view all of the recently copied text and then select the required one you want to paste to.

As a note, when selecting text in a text entry field, you can not only copy the selected text, but also cut the text by utilizing the Cut option . The difference is copying text will duplicate the original one but cutting text will not.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Set SD Card as the Default Storage in Internet App in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Keeping the internal storage has free space enough is a thing that you need to do to make sure your phone can work well and doesn't encounter any error caused by low internal storage. Given that fact, it's no wonder if some of the stock apps have been equipped with an option to let the user switch the default storage of the app from the internal storage to the SD card. So does with the stock browser app that lets you to directly save all downloaded files to the SD card so that you don't need to worry your internal storage will quickly run out, especially if you like downloading many things from the internet.


How to save downloaded files to the SD card in Internet app?
Assuming that you have attached a SD card into your phone, then you can change the default storage in Internet app by using the following steps:
  1. Open Internet app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Content settings.
  4. Tap Default storage and then select SD card.
  5. Now, all of downloaded files will be saved to the Download folder in the SD card.

As a note, the Internet app will re-use the internal storage as the default storage when you reset the Internet app settings or perform clear data for this app from the app manager. So, when you have to do those two actions for any reason then you have to set back the SD card as the default storage manually if you still want your downloaded files to be saved directly to the SD card.
