Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Save Webpages for Offline Reading in Internet App in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Internet app, which is the stock browser app in the Samsung Galaxy S5, provides various features to help the users have a better experience while browsing the webpages, one of which is a feature that will let you save an article of a webpage while online to read it later offline. This feature basically is almost similar with bookmarks since both these features will help you easily reload bookmarked/saved webpages anytime you want. The difference is bookmarked webpages require an internet connection when you want to load it again, while saved pages don't. First, you have to load the required webpage while you're connected with the internet and then you can open/load the saved webpage offline later.

How to save a webpage?
You can save a webpage while you're connected to the internet so that it can be used for offline reading later by using the following steps:
  1. Open Internet app.
  2. Tap the address bar and then enter the required address of a webpage and then tap Go.
  3. When the webpage has been fully loaded, tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Save page.
  4. The webpage has been saved.

How to open a saved webpage?
When a webpage has been saved, you can then open it easily even when you don't have an internet connection. See the following steps to do so:
  1. Open Internet app.
  2. Tap the Saved pages icon located at the bottom of the screen to view all saved webpages. The newest item will be displayed on top.
  3. Tap the required webpage.
  4. The webpage will be loaded and let you read it offline.

I personally often use this feature to save interesting articles that I found while browsing webpages so that I can re-read it later even when I'm in a situation where I have to deal with the lack of an internet connection problem. So, how about you? Do you like this feature?

I own Samsung Galaxy S5, and I wanted to save web pages for offline reading, but there is no save key on my cell phone. Also, there are no options keys on the bottom of the screen. I hope you can help me out to fix this issue.

    1. Hi Hadeel,
      Thanks for coming.
Since you didn't mention your model number, then I assume you own the same phone with mine, SM-G900H. So, here my answers for your questions:
      1. No save key.
Did you want to say that you couldn't find the option to save page for offline reading?
If that so, once the webpage is fully loaded, tap the three dot icon at the top right or long press the Recent apps button (it's located at the left side of the Home button) to open the menus and then select "Save page".

      2. No options keys on the bottom of the screen.
It can be happened if you have accidentally set the app to hide the options keys on the bottom of the screen. To set the Internet app always displays the options keys, do as the follows:
      - In the Internet app, tap the three dot icon at the top right to open the menus, scroll down the menus, and then select "Settings".
      - Tap "Screen and text".
      - Clear the checkbox next to "Auto hide toolbar".
      - Now, the options keys will always be displayed on the bottom of the screen.

    2. Hello Rehan,
Thanks for your reply, although it didn't work on my phone.
My phone model no. Is SM-G900V. There is no "screen and text" key in the Internet app setting. Again, I hope you have an answer for that.

      Thanks

  2. Hello Rehan,
I don't know if you got my replying message. If not, I was saying that my cell phone model no. is SM-G900V, and it doesn't have the "screen and text" key in the Internet app. I wanted to send a screen shot for you but I don't know how to send it.

Hope you have an answer to this problem.

    Thanks again
